Strong winds expected to hit Gauteng tonight

Residents are advised to stay indoors.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has advised residents that strong and damaging winds are predicted to hit Gauteng from midnight (Tuesday) until the early hours of tomorrow morning (August 3).

These winds are sudden and can cause much damage.

Residents are advised to stay indoors where possible.

Those who are travelling should be aware of flying debris and cross winds, and should stay clear of any fallen trees or power lines.

Parked aircraft should be pointed into the direction of the wind and secured.

The City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Management Services officials will be on high alert for as long as the adverse weather conditions persist.

Should there be an emergency, residents are encouraged to contact the Ekurhuleni emergency centre on 011 458 0911/ 10177.
