Local businesses shine at awards
The Best of Ekurhuleni Awards are a barometer of what’s hot, hotter and hottest in Ekurhuleni.
Brakpan proved its up there with the best at the Best of Ekurhuleni Readers’ Choice Awards 2016.
The winners were announced at a fancy cocktail party at Emperors Palace on Thursday evening (27 October), last week.
The Best of Ekurhuleni Awards are a barometer of what’s hot, hotter and hottest in Ekurhuleni.
Caxton Local Newspapers provide readers with the ballots (published in August each year) and our readers vote in 115 categories, which cover everything from the Best Italian Restaurant and Best Chocolate, to Best Cocktail Bar and Best Place to See and Be Seen.
There are also categories for top local people: Best Local DJ and Best Local TV Personality.
Also rated are the best places to visit in and around Ekurhuleni.
The local winners were:
• Best Outdoor and Indoor Activities: Carnival City.
• Best Venue for International and Local Artists: Carnival City.
• Best Sporting Goods Store: Mr Price Sport, Mall@Carnival,
• Best Outdoor/Camping Store: Cape Union Mart, Mall@Carnival
• Best Supermarket for Essentials: Sherwood Pick n Pay.
Readers who voted, were entered into a lucky draw and the lucky winners walked away with fabulous prizes, such as a five night stay in Zanzibar and a weekend away in KwaZulu-Natal.
