Rude awakening for suspected drug dealer

A tip-off from community members resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug dealer on Friday.

The EMPD’s Public Order Policing Unit received information about the suspect residing in Tsakane.

Following surveillance of the location, the metro police was able to effect an arrest and seize drugs and ammunition.

“Unannounced at 3.55am, officers raided a house in Nova street occupied by a 30-year-old male, who was found sleeping,” said EMPD media liaison officer Kobeli Mokheseng.

The house was searched and officers uncovered mandrax tablets, cat, dagga and two live rounds in a 9mm magazine.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Tsakane Police Station on charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances and illegal possession of ammunition.
