Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reportd to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A large sum of cash was stolen during a robbery at a business along Station Road.

Five men, one of whom was armed with a gun, entered the store just before 1pm and forced staff members to open the tills.

* Two burglaries took place.

A home in Crest Street, Sunair Park, was burgled of an iPad and a docking station, while a TV and laptops were stolen from an address along Winterburg Street in Dalpark.

• Saturday – A man was robbed after withdrawing cash in the CBD.

The incident took place at about 5pm when the victim was returning from the ATM to his vehicle.

He was grabbed by a man who searched him and fled with his cellphones and cash.

* Two laptops and a TV were stolen during a break-in at a home in Fifeshire Road, Brenthurst.

* A car parked along Derby Avenue was stripped of its tyres and mags.

* A man was assaulted and robbed in the Location Road informal settlement.

The victim’s attacker is known to him.

They returned to the informal settlement together at around 10.30pm after an evening out.

The victim was punched and a scuffle between the two ensued, during which the victim sustained a cut to his hand.

He was searched and robbed of his money.

The victim ran off after fighting off his attacker.

• Sunday – No information was received.

Other cases reported:

• Tuesday – A white Volkswagen Jetta was stolen from Porter Avenue.

• Wednesday – Taps and other household fittings were stolen from a home along Hastings Avenue.

• Thursday – The driver of a white Toyota Corolla was robbed of his vehicle by three men.

The hijacking took place at the corner of Heidelberg (R23) and Rangeview roads in Dalpark at around 7.50pm.

The victim was en route to Benoni when a white hatchback stopped in front of him.

He stopped his car and three armed men alighted the hatchback and approached him.

The hijackers climbed into the Corolla and robbed the victim of his phone and wallet.

He was tied up with his belt and shoelaces and driven to a veld where he was released some time later.

* Two TVs, a DVD player, sound equipment and jewellery were stolen from a house in Gamkarivier Crescent, Leachville.

The following arrests were made in Brakpan over the weekend:

• Possession of drugs: 5
• Shoplifting: 1
• Assault GBH: 2
• Drunk driving: 2
• Use of motor vehicle without owner’s consent: 1
