The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (May 23 to 24):

Cases reported:

• Theft: 4
• Theft of motor vehicle: 1
• Murder: 1
• Common assault: 1
• Contravention of second-hand goods act: 6
• Culpable homicide: 1
• Rape: 1
• Theft from motor vehicle: 1
• Child neglect: 1
• Dealing in drugs: 1
• Business burglary: 1

Arrests:

• Murder, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm: 8
• Possession of drugs: 1

Murder:

• Taxi-related violence in Brakpan yesterday morning (Wednesday) resulted in the death of four taxi drivers. Six others were injured.

Rape:

• A woman was raped at gunpoint along Olga Mitchell Street in Anzac yesterday.

The victim was walking to work at around 6.30am when she noticed a man following her.

The man pointed a gun at her and forced her to follow him to a secluded area where he raped her.

Burglary:

• 20th Road, Witpoort Estates.

The break-in took place yesterday.

Stolen: Unknown. No further information pertaining to this incident was received.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• A motorbike (make and model not provided) was stolen from an address along Muir Avenue on Tuesday.

Theft from motor vehicle:

• On Tuesday, a car battery was stolen from a vehicle parked along Kitzinger Avenue.
