Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (June 6 to 7):

Cases reported:

• Residential burglary: 1

Arrests:

Hijacking:

• The driver of a white Toyota Hilux bakkie transporting goats was hijacked along Heidelberg Road, near Carnival City, on Tuesday night.

While en route to Heidelberg, the driver and his nephew were pulled over by three bogus policeman at about 8.30pm.

The “cops”, who were travelling in an unidentified car with a blue light, first demanded to inspect the cargo, but then pointed guns at the pair.

They were driven to a veld where they were robbed of their belongings, which included bank cards and a cellphone, and tied up with rope.

One gunman was left to watch over them, while the others went to withdraw money from the victims’ accounts.

The hijackers returned to fetch their accomplice and drove off in the bakkie.

Burglary:

• Voortrekker Road.

The break-in took place yesterday (Wednesday).

Stolen: A cellphone, cash, bank cards and other valuables.

Theft from motor vehicle:

• A car parked along Maple Avenue in Leachville was stripped of its wheels on Tuesday.
