The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (August 7 to 8):

Cases reported:

• Possession of drugs: 3
• Fraud: 4
• Malicious damage to property: 1

Arrests:

Armed robbery:

• A Dalpark resident was robbed of his cellphone at his home along Lawrence Road last night (Tuesday).

The incident took place at around 8.30pm after the victim and his son had gone outside to investigate why the property’s outdoor alarm beams had activated.

While checking around the garden, they were confronted by a man armed with a gun.

The gunman hit the victim with the firearm and ordered him to open the main gate.

He grabbed the victim’s cellphone and ran to a waiting getaway car (a silver Volkswagen Passat).

Theft of motor vehicle:

• A yellow and black Kawasaki motorbike was stolen from an address along Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst on Monday.
