A day for the environment

The Dalpark One Residents Association has taken it upon itself to develop and protect this unique treasure in Gauteng.

The Dalpark One Bird Sanctuary is a legally proclaimed and registered bird sanctuary situated within Dalpark Extension One.

Over and above the abundant bird life and fish, there are mongooses, meerkats, a large variety of reptiles and confirmed reports of duiker, jackal and two wild cat sightings.

The Dalpark One Residents Association has taken it upon itself to develop and protect this unique treasure in Gauteng and is organising an Environmental Day for all Brakpan residents with the aim of educating them on conservation methods and various aspects and impacts of the environment.

The event, a first of its kind in Brakpan, will be held on Saturday, November 24, from 10am to 2pm in the park area at Van Wyk Dam in Dalpark Extension One.

Any organisation involved in the protection of animals or flora is invited to attend.

This is a non-profit initiative and the organisers are appealing for sponsors to assist with portable toilets and tents or gazebos.
