Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A handbag and a laptop were stolen from a car parked along Derby Avenue.

* Cellphones were stolen during a break-in at a business along Kitzinger Avenue.

* A battery was stolen from a bakkie parked along Colliery Road in Sunair Park.

• Saturday – A security guard was robbed and assaulted along Kitzinger Avenue.

The victim was overpowered by five men at about 3am, who ran off with his cellphone.

* A silver Toyota Tazz was stolen from Prince George Avenue.

• Sunday – Various tools were stolen from a car parked along Northdene Avenue.

* A home in Saffron Street, Dalpark Extension Six, was burgled of a TV and a laptop.

* An attempt was made to steal a white Toyota Tazz parked at Mall@Carnival.

The culprit was disturbed by the car’s owner, who found the man inside his vehicle at about 12.15pm and confronted him.

The would-be thief made his getaway in a white Volkswagen Citi Golf, which was followed by a Toyota Corolla.

The Tazz’s ignition system was damaged.
