Three cases of murder are under investigation and an inquest docket has been opened by Brakpan police after a woman and her three children were found fatally shot in their Sallies Village home yesterday (Wednesday).
Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, told the Herald police responded to a fire at an address along Modder Street around 5pm.
“On arrival, they found the house burning and the fire brigade was summoned to the scene,” she said.

“The owner of the house managed to extinguish the fire and found his wife and three children in the living room with bullets wounds from a 9mm pistol.
“The pistol was found on the floor.”

The woman, aged 40, her two daughters, aged 17 and 19, and her 10-year-old son were certified dead on the scene.
The firearm belongs to the husband and no arrests have been made.
“The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage,” added van Staad.
