VIDEO: Police rewarded for excellence

Members of the Brakpan SAPS were honoured in several categories.

Men and women of the Brakpan SAPS who go above and beyond the call of duty were honoured at the Ekurhuleni District Excellence Awards 2019.

The event was held at Carnival City’s Rio Rooms on Wednesday, last week, and saw members of the SAPS honoured in several categories.

Brakpan SAPS was named Best Police Station at last year’s awards and while they were unable to hold on to the title this year, with the honours going to Actonville, the local station did win one of the other coveted awards of the day, that of Best Client Service Centre of the Year.

Other members of the Brakpan Police Station were honoured in the following categories:

• Administration Employee of the Year (level one to four): Winner, David Mulaudzi.

Handyman David Mulaudzi was named the Administration Employee of the Year (level one to four).

• Administration Employee of the Year (level eight to 12): Winner, Capt Chris Avenant.

Administration Employee of the Year (level eight to 12) was won by Capt Chris Avenant.

• Vispol Group of the Year: First runners-up, Brakpan SAPS.

Brakpan SAPS was the first runners-up in the Vispol Group of the Year category. Members of the group include Lt Col Korop Masethla (left), Const Zinhle Zikalala and Const Toka Gavade.

• Detective Group of the Year: Second runners-up, Brakpan Family Violence, Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).

• Woman of the Year: First runner-up, Sgt Faith Ntuli.

Sgt Faith Ntuli was the first runner-up in the Woman of the Year category.

• Best Zone Visible Policing: First runners-up, Brakpan SAPS.
