Two killed in suspected domestic violence incident

Neighbours alleged that a fight between the pair ensued on Wednesday evening.

Two murder dockets have been opened after an alleged domestic violence incident resulted in the death of a man and a woman in the Plastic City informal settlement.

Capt Pearl van Staad, a spokesperson for Brakpan SAPS, told the Herald the police were summoned to the scene at 00:12 last Thursday.

“On arrival, they found a 40-year-old male with multiple stab wounds hanging from inside a shack window,” she said.

“The man was declared dead on the scene.

“Inside the shack, there was a female (36), also with multiple stab wounds, lying in a pool of blood. Paramedics rushed her to the Far East Rand Hospital, where later that day, at about 10:30, she succumbed to her injuries.”
Neighbours alleged that a fight between the pair ensued on Wednesday evening.

“It is reported that all the neighbourhood could hear was the female deceased screaming and breaking of windows,” she said.

According to van Staad, the woman had a protection order against the man, which was served to him in early October.

“They were due to appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court for domestic violence the following day (November 12),” she added.
