The collision happened early on Sunday morning and was caught on security cameras.

The Mall@Carnival has scarcely taken over the protection and maintenance of the traffic lights on the corner of Airport Drive and Heidelberg Road (R23) when a driver collided with one of the poles uprooting it completely. The collision occurred just after 07:00 on June 15, and due to camera footage the driver could be arrested. Law enforcement were on the scene quickly. Photo: Erna Vermaak.
