An operation focusing on illegal immigration and by-law enforcement is underway at the Plastic City informal settlement.

Various community role players have joined the EMPD, SAPS, CPF and Department of Home Affairs to assist.

Brakpan Ward 97 Clr Brandon Pretorius told the Brakpan Herald the operation is the first phase of an ongoing process to tackle issues in the informal settlement.

Ekurhuleni’s Member of Mayoral Committee for Community Safety Clr Letlhogonolo Moseki was also in attendance.

At the time of publication, numerous arrests had been made.
