Local police were summoned to the Brakpan Cemetery on the morning of January 28 after the body of an assaulted man was found.
According to Brakpan SAPS, a motorist travelling along Prince George Avenue was stopped by a pedestrian who told him about a visibly injured man near the cemetery’s gate.
Police were notified just before 07:00 and arrived to find the deceased with severe injuries to his head and face.
A slab of concrete was found near his body.
At the time of publication, the deceased had not yet been identified.
The body was taken to the Springs Mortuary.
A case of murder is under investigation.
