The Barnyard show 1 Hit Wonders features a talented 10-piece cast who will perform more than 60 hits.

1 Hit Wonders is a tribute to recording artists who had only one hit song, and then disappeared into obscurity, never to be heard of again, till now, in this awesome production.

1 Hit Wonders is showing at the Emperors Palace Barnyard Theatre from May 4 to 29.

Since the birth of rock ‘n roll, we have experienced one-hit wonders on the pop charts – guitar legend Carl Perkins said, don’t step on his Blue Suede Shoes.

The single rock wonder gained momentum in the 1960s, with songs like Do You Love Me by The Contours and Wipe Out by the Surfaris.

In the 1970s we experienced outrageous dance floor one-hit wonders, if we think back to songs like Knock on Wood, Play That Funky Music, Le Freak (Freak Out), Rapper’s Delight and Kung Fu Fighting.

In the 1980s we experienced the new sounds of one-hit wonders such as You Spin Me Round (Like a Record), 99 Red Balloons and (I Just) Died in Your Arms.

In the 1990s we had crazy one-hit wonders with Who Let the Dogs Out?, Macarena, Ice Ice Baby and let’s not forget the ultimate one-hit wonder, I’m Too Sexy.

In the 2000s and beyond we’ve had an avalanche of one-hit wonders, including Psy’s Gangnam Style, The Ketchup Song by Las Ketchup and I Like the Way (You Move) by BodyRockers.

The golden era of one-hit wonders, the ’80s and ’90s, made a profound impact on the soundtrack of our lives and this phenomenon is sure to continue into the future.
