What’s on in and around Brakpan this September

1 September

Mini kermis

NG-gemeente Brakpan-Noord hou vanaf 5nm ’n mini kermis op die kerkgronde, te Gardinerlaan 101. Talle stalletjies om te besigtig. Vir meer inligting oor die kermis of stalletjies, kontak die kerkkantoor (011 740 2241).

Nagmark

’n Nagmark vind by die NG-kerk Brakpan-Oos, geleë op die hoek van Boundary- en Lappingweg, plaas. Die mark begin vanaf 3nm. Talle kosstalletjies sal beskikbaar wees. Daar sal ook gratis gesondheidsassesering deur gekwalifiseerde mediese personeel vanaf 2nm gedoen word. Kontak Alta Rudolph (083 396 7591) vir meer inligting of om ’n stalletjie te huur.

September 2

Woodworkers Fair

The East Rand Woodworkers’ Association will hold their annual Woodworkers Fair at the Northmead Methodist Church, corner of Aerodrome Drive and Webb Street, Benoni, between 9am and 5pm. Food and woodworking crafts will be on sale. Free entrance.

East Rand Rally

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) will host an East Rand Rally from 8am to 4.30pm at the Central Methodist Church, located at 26 Bunyan Street, Benoni. Registration begins from 8am onwards. For more information, contact the East Rand’s AA office (011 421 1748).

Cosy Corner Market

A Cosy Corner Market will take place from 9am to 3pm at the Cosy Corner MOTH Club. There will be different stalls and a pageant, Miss Cosy Corner Pageant, will take place during the day.

September 3

SPCA Animal Run

Motorcycle clubs, fanatics and families are invited to join a fun-filled day, in aid of SPCAs in Ekurhuleni, by being part of the SPCA Animal Run. The mass ride, from the Edenvale Checkers-Hyper to the Boksburg Stadium, will start at 9am. For more information, contact Alta Gobey (083 280 2039).

Carnival Market

The first ever Carnival Market will take place from 10am at Carnival City’s outdoor Pocket Park area. The market will feature stalls and exhibits of handcrafted goods, clothing, artisanal drinks and other products. There will also be a beer garden, free ice-skating, a mini carousel, bumper cars, a children’s playground, face painting, artisanal stalls and delicious food. Entrance is free.

9 September

Boeremark

‘n Boeremark word by die Brakpan Tuinsentrum, te Dirk van der Hoffweg, gehou, vanaf 9vm. Talle stalletjies en vermaak.

11 – 15 September

Felicitas Skool revue

Felicitas Skool bied sy jaarlikse revue by die skool aan. Leerders en personeel nooi die publiek uit om die puik produksie te gaan geniet. Die revue vind vanaf 7nm plaas. Kaartjies kan by die skool gekoop word (011 813 4142).

15 September

Boeredans

Hoërskool Die Anker bied ’n boeredans in die skoolsaal aan. ’n Boereorkes sal die vermaak vir die aand wees en mense kan ook lekker smul aan ’n regte boere-ete. Vir meer inligting kontak vir Dina Abbott (011 817 1321).

September 23

Soulful Night

The Soulful Night concert, taking place in Carnival City’s Big Top Arena, will feature some of the biggest names in jazz and afro-soul, including Ringo Madlingozi, Selaelo Selota, Vusi Nova and Ntando Bangani.

September 24

Heritage Unity Festival

The Heritage Unity Festival, which will take place from 9am on Carnival City’s Festival Lawns, features entertainers including Freshlyground, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Amanda Black, Jack Parow, Refentse, Bok van Blerk, Emtee, Hussein Valley, Black Motion and many more.

25 September

Dingetjies en Goetertjies

Jonathan van die Oos Rand bied sy eenmanstuk Dingetjies en Goetertjies by Emperors Palace se Theatre of Marcellus aan. Die produksie handel oor die allerdaagse dingetjies en goetertjies van die lewe. Hy probeer veral sin maak van dingetjies en goetertjies wat ons van mekaar maklik kan irriteer.

September 29 – 30

East Rand Spring Festival

The East Rand Spring Festival, which will take place at Carnival City’s Sun Park, is guaranteed fun for the whole family. Visitors will get to discover the latest products and services for the whole family, as well as exclusive promotions, discounts and competitions from much-loved stores and brands. The East Rand Spring Festival will also include an exciting line-up of local artists and bands, Miss Spring Festival and exciting giveaways.
