KHS gears up for bigger, bolder Best of the West Easter Festival

Twelve schools, local and international, unite for rugby, family, and community spirit.

Krugersdorp High School (KHS) once again looks forward to its Best of the West Easter Festival.

The rugby festival has grown to 12 schools competing from not just South Africa but beyond the borders.

Among the participating schools are St Charles College from KZN, St Georges College from Zimbabwe, Hoërskool Jeugland, Hoërskool Roodepoort and St David’s Marist Brothers Inanda.

According to the school’s head of marketing, Lauren Coetsee, the festival is not just about the camaraderie on the field but also the family and the local community.

She added that this year, there is again live entertainment and brilliant school spirit.

The school’s head of rugby, Francois Botha, also explained that this year will be huge.

“In rugby, team culture is not about you, it’s about the team. Every player has the responsibility to do what is best for the team. No one is bigger than the game, no one is bigger than the team,” he said.

He also added that the teams have made strides and hit several milestones over the years.
“We have been part of the Pirates Rugby League since 2022 and we have grown from strength to strength.”
