Krugersdorp High gears up for Best of the West Easter Festival with top school rugby, hockey and community focus
Twelve schools from across Southern Africa to compete as festival blends sport, entertainment and charity initiatives
Krugersdorp High School (KHS) is once again gearing up for a thrilling Best of the West Easter Festival, promising exciting sport, live entertainment, and a strong sense of community spirit.
According to Lauren Coetsee, the school’s head of marketing, the popular rugby festival continues to grow and is now 12 schools strong, with teams travelling from all over Southern Africa to take part.
This year’s rugby line-up includes St Charles College (KZN), St George’s College (Zimbabwe), Hoërskool Jeugland, Hoërskool Roodepoort, and St David’s Marist Brothers Inanda, among others.
In addition to the rugby action, the Boys’ Hockey tournament will see schools such as Hoërskool Eldoraigne, Trinityhouse College, and Cambridge High School (Eastern Cape) competing on the KHS Astro turf.

More than just sport
“The Best of the West Easter Festival is not only about competition on the field, but also about bringing families and the local community together,” said Coetsee.
She added that festival-goers can once again look forward to live entertainment in the Beer Tent on both Thursday, April 2 and Saturday evening, April 4.
There will also be big screen sports coverage, along with a variety of food and market stalls, creating a festive atmosphere for supporters of all ages.

Honouring a legacy and supporting a worthy cause
“Saturday’s programme will hold special significance as it marks the official opening of the John Hall Oval.
The dedication recognises John Hall’s contributions to KHS over the past 40 years as an educator, coach and mentor,” she said.
She continued, saying the day will also focus on fundraising for The Bethany House Trust, a safe haven for children in need. For every R20 entrance fee paid on the Saturday, R5 will be donated to the Trust.
Spectators are encouraged to show their support by dressing in pink and blue, with prizes awarded to the best-dressed supporters in these colours.
“The school looks forward to welcoming players, families, and the wider community for what promises to be another memorable Easter Festival,” Coetsee concluded.
