WATCH: Good people of the South is still giving
They are also starting an initiative for donations of dog and cat food.
“It is with thanks that I can announce the distribution of 60 hampers to wards 54, 55, 56 and 57 in the South on April 22 and to announce that an additional 60 will be going out today (April 23).”
This is according to ward councillor Sarah Wissler.
To date, 380 hampers have been distributed with more going out daily.
“We ask the people of the South to please keep contributing. We have partnered with St Johns as main distribution warehouse and smaller centres are being set up in the ward. I am pleased that we now we have a centre in Mulbarton.
“Our sincere gratitude goes out towards our Muslim community because we will now be able to sort out clothes and food with help form NGOs and NPOs.”
She said they are in dire need of baby formula, nappies, sanitary wear, deodorant, and washing powder to be added to the hampers.
“We are launching an initiative with Pick n Pay Mulbarton with insane deals to help the community at large, the shelters and the local SPCA with cat and dog food.
“If you are cleaning out your cupboards, please donate clothes and shoes and much-needed blankets.”
