Talk about ice cream

Len Roelofsz entertained the members Women of Worth (WOW) with an interesting talk on the making of ice cream.

GUEST speaker Len Roelofsz, the owner of Jumbo Jay in Alberton, entertained the members Women of Worth (WOW) with an interesting talk on the making of ice cream.

Len makes his ice cream with lots of love and care, and he passed around samples of whey powder, stabiliser, buttermilk and various other ingredients he uses in the making of his delicious product, before the finished ice cream was enjoyed by all.

Len also makes diabetic ice cream, water ices and stick lines, popular with children and the elderly.

“With any dairy product, the expiry date is extremely important and will affect the taste greatly, so always check the sell-by date,” he advised.

”I put expiry dates on all my ice creams and ice sticks.”

Another important tip for housewives is to take along a freezer bag for your dairy products when you go shopping, and to make sure you take these goods out of the freezer bag last of all, just before you join the queue at the check-out.
