12 suspects arrested, 3 unlicensed firearms and 2 vehicles recovered

Johannesburg Flying Squad communications officer Raymond Sambo said the investigation continues in all cases.

Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested 12 suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg and recovered three 9mm Norinco pistol with ammunitions and two vehicles from November 27 to 30.

Among the 12 suspects arrested, two were for possession of unlicensed firearms, two for armed robbery, one for assault common, and seven for possession of drugs.

Among the two vehicles recovered, a white Nissan NP200 was recovered hijacked and a white Toyota Yaris was recovered stolen.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communications officer Raymond Sambo said the investigation continues in all cases.

“Working with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. It should also be noted that any information regarding the vehicles, people may contact the relevant detective quoting the case number.

“The 12 suspects appeared in different magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions, armed robbery, assault common and possession of drugs,” he said.
