Two men were found guilty following a theft of a business premise in 2019.
Officers of Booysens Police Station were patrolling Booysens Road on August 11 two years ago when they noticed suspicious activity at a business premise.
It was noticed that there were suspects sitting in a vehicle and they were reversing into the premises. The officers stopped the vehicle and one suspect jumped out of it and started to run. The other two suspects remained seated and the vehicle was searched.
They found a large amount of electrical equipment in the car including batteries, a grinder, a generator, black monitor screens, computers and number plates. The officers placed the suspects under arrest and took them to Booysens SAPS.
The docket was handed to Sgt Edmond Rangwanasha to investigate and obtain all the relevant outstanding information.
On February 3 the suspects were found guilty and were sentenced as follows:
Suspect 1: imprisonment for four years of which two years are suspended for four years with the choice of acknowledgement of guilt or bail estreatment of R8 000.
Suspect 2: imprisonment for five years of which two years are suspended for four years with the choice of acknowledgement of guilt or bail estreatment of R10 000.
Booysens SAPS communications officer Capt Lorraine van Emmerik said the management thanked Sgt Gazania Mashaba and his crew who made the arrests and Rangwanasha for obtaining the conviction.
