Man injured in Meredale shooting

Police opened a case of attempted murder in relation to a shooting incident.

Police have opened a case of attempted murder in relation to a shooting incident on March 6 in Meredale, where a 50-year-old man was injured.

Police have up to this point gathered that the victim was driving along Ulster Street when an unknown man allegedly approached and fired multiple shots at the victim, whose vehicle had been intercepted by a red Isuzu with unknown registration.

The Isuzu drove off from the scene while the armed suspect allegedly escaped in a second car.

The motive for the shooting is unclear at this stage. Police are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects to urgently contact Mondeor SAPS on 011 b433 5400 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, or send information via the MySAPS app.
