Brackendowns SAPS would like to caution the community about hijackings on the R59 Kliprivier off-ramps, Kliprivier Road and Vaal Road. According to SAPS a number of hijackings with the same modus operandi in the area.
The suspects involved in these hijackings are between three and four African males driving a white Toyota Corolla or a white VW Polo.
They pretend to pull vehicles over by flashing their headlights at the victims and then two or more armed suspects jump out while pointing their firearms at the victim.
They then climb into the vehicle and force the driver into the back seat before driving away and dropping the driver off far from the area.
Brackendowns SAPS asks the community and visitors to please be vigilant. When a vehicle tries to pull you over and you aren’t certain if they are indeed law enforcement to drive straight to your nearest SAPS station or metro police department office.
“Do not be a hero, these suspects are armed,” warns WO Gerhard Cornelius.
If you have any information about these incidents please contact Brackendowns SAPS on 011 617 5600 or give an anonymous tip-off on 086 001 0111 or the SAPS website.
