Pink Pack celebrates Women’s Day with future leaders
The Pink Pack Project visited the learners at Opel Weg Primary School on Women’s Day to empower and inspire the future female leaders of the community.
Ilene Abrahams joined the learners to not only celebrate their achievements but leave them with something to think about. The topic of the day was that the choices you make are key to your personal success.
“Life gives us lots of reasons to smile or to cry,” explained Ilene.
She explained you cannot control what life gives you, but you can decide what to do with the hand that you’ve been dealt. This was demonstrated when learners had to blindly pick between a rock and a coin.
As an example, she shared the story of one learner, who despite having trouble registering for her studies, has not stopped trying and continues to look for opportunities to make her dreams come true.
“It doesn’t matter what your situation is, as long as you have a dream,” said Ilene.
At end off the talk, the girls shared what their dreams for the future are and what according to them the key characteristics of a strong woman is.
The Pink Pack Project helps learners achieve their dreams by providing young women with the sanitary products they need to be able to embrace school fully.
