Mulbarton operation ends with 12 boys rescued and suspect arrested

Fox Security and JMPD work together to arrest a foreign national suspected of human trafficking.

A joint operation between Fox Security and the JMPD led to the rescue of 12 boys and the arrest of a foreign national suspected of human trafficking in the Mulbarton area of Johannesburg south on January 5.

Fox Security received a tip-off about a suspected burglary in progress at 20:30, which led to the discovery of three adult men hiding and in distress.

Further investigation revealed that more individuals matching a similar description had been spotted in surrounding areas, including Glenvista and Bassonia.

The JMPD Tactical Response Unit (TRU) responded and assisted in co-ordinated operations, which led to the apprehension of a suspect and the rescue of the 12 boys.

The foreign national faces charges related to illegal immigration and suspected human trafficking.

Fox Security commended the swift action of its reaction and tactical teams, as well as the JMPD TRU members, for their assistance.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the extent of the human trafficking operation.

The director of Fox Security, Francois Jansen, spoke about the operation, “Twelve individuals and one suspect were handed to the Mondeor SAPS,” said Jansen.

Lieutenant Colonel Xulu of the Mondeor SAPS commented on the case, “The suspect has been arrested and an investigation is ongoing.”
