Mulbarton Primary Soulbuddyz bring Easter cheer to local elderly

Thanks to Mulbarton Primary School’s generous learners and their parents, residents enjoyed treats, letters and laughter during a special Easter visit.

Learners from Mulbarton Primary School’s Soulbuddyz Club paid a special visit to Karina and Northam Old Age Homes in South Hills to bring Easter cheer to the elderly.

The learners generously donated Easter eggs, sponsored by their parents, and shared heartfelt moments despite the rainy weather.

“It was a heartfelt morning. Despite the weather posing a challenge, the elderly and learners braved the rain to spend time together,” said teacher Thabile Makhubo.

During the visit, the learners also wrote letters to the elderly and read them aloud, reminding them of the true meaning of Easter and letting them know they are not alone. In addition, each resident received a handmade Easter-themed hat, lovingly created by the learners.

Makhubo added: “As the Soulbuddyz Club, it was not only about making Easter special for the elderly but also a practical lesson for the learners. It helps foster life skills and teaches them how to be good members of society by contributing positively to the community, showing respect for others, and taking kindness wherever they go.”
