Swift response leads to shoplifting suspect’s arrest in Bassonia
Quick coordination between security teams and the South African Police Service leads to arrest and recovery of stolen goods.
A coordinated response by private security teams led to the successful apprehension of a suspected shoplifter at a local shopping centre in Bassonia.
According to the operations director of Fox Security, Francois Jansen, a panic alert was triggered at the centre, prompting an immediate response from Fox Security Reaction Unit and the Fox Tactical Unit.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that a suspect was actively engaged in shoplifting inside one of the stores.
Working closely with on-site staff, the officers swiftly moved in and apprehended the suspect.
Further investigations led to the identification of a vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the crime, which was subsequently located and stopped nearby.
Members of SAPS conducted a search of the vehicle, where additional stolen property was discovered, strengthening the case against the suspect.
The individual was taken into custody and handed over to the Mondeor SAPS for further investigation and processing.
Authorities have commended the swift and effective collaboration between private security teams and law enforcement, which ensured a prompt resolution to the incident.
