Mondeor pool hall murder case postponed once again
The accused appeared in court via Microsoft Teams.
A 19-year-old is facing a murder charge after allegedly fatally stabbing another teenager (18) at Ballbreakers, a pool hall in Mondeor on April 5, 2025.
The case was heard at the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on April 29 with Magistrate Vele presiding.
The State and defence both indicated that further steps are needed before the matter can proceed.
Prosecutor Mr Pashadi and defence attorney Mr Kruger confirmed that the pre-trial process can only be done once all evidence has been submitted and finalised.
The court heard that chain evidence and medical evidence will be submitted, and that a longer postponement is needed to allow for DNA results linked to medical aspects of the case to be in the court’s possession.
The accused was not present in court but rather appeared via Microsoft Teams. Magistrate Vele postponed the matter to May 27 to allow for the finalisation of pre-trial procedures and for the State to secure outstanding forensic reports.
