Kliprivier SAPS calls on families to act on firearm amnesty linked to deceased estates

Kliprivier SAPS is urging families and next of kin to urgently come forward regarding firearms linked to deceased estates involving individuals from Brackenhurst, Germiston, Kliprivier, Greenvalley and surrounding areas.

The Kliprivier Police Station in the Sedibeng District is urging families and next of kin of several deceased persons to urgently come forward regarding firearms registered under their estates.

The appeal forms part of the ongoing firearm amnesty and compliance process under the Firearms Control Act.

Police say the process aims to ensure that all firearms linked to deceased estates are lawfully transferred, surrendered, or safely disposed of in line with legal requirements.

Families are requested to visit Kliprivier SAPS for assistance with a range of matters, including the renewal or transfer of firearm licenses, voluntary surrender of firearms, safe legal disposal procedures, and any outstanding firearm-related issues linked to estates.

According to SAPS, the initiative is intended to prevent delays in finalising estate matters and to ensure full compliance with national firearm regulations.

Members of the public who believe they are next of kin or responsible for the estates are encouraged to come forward as soon as possible.

Assistance will be provided at the station to guide families through the required legal processes.

Kliprivier SAPS has urged families not to delay, warning that unresolved firearm matters can lead to unnecessary legal and administrative complications if not addressed timeously.

For enquiries, families can contact Sergeant Buthelezi at 067 741 5088.
