The CHRONICLE gets your views on the new court ruling which makes spanking children illegal in South Africa.

The CHRONICLE gets your views on the new court ruling which makes spanking children illegal in South Africa.

VICKY GIELINK: “Children should be spanked because this generation is disrespectful. Children need to be taught to have respect and if parents don’t do it then who will?”
IZOLDE DEYZEL: “Disciplining children should be allowed and I disagree with the ruling. I am firmly against child abuse and parents should have discretion.”
CHARLÉNE MYBURGH: “I am not happy about this decision because this is why the youth is the way they are. There is no respect for elders and parents and they take advantage because they can’t get spanked. Other parents shouldn’t judge either.”
BELINDA COETZEE: “Today’s children aren’t disciplined and there is a difference between hitting and spanking. If disciplining children means leaving marks then that is now becoming abuse. “
