Street Jungle boxing tournament at Turffontein
Gauteng Street Jungle will feature eight bouts.
THE Turffontein racecourse will once again host a boxing tournament to boost careers of the up-and-coming young boxers.
Gauteng Street Jungle tournament will take place on June 1 at one of the Turffontein Racecourse venues, and a whopping eight-bout tournament will be the order of the evening’s proceedings presented by Dream team boxing promoters.
The main bout will feature a Southerner, Wade Groth, who will be pitted against Nkululeko Mhlongo in a middleweight contest over eight rounds. Groth will fight under the banner of the Sugar Ray’s gymnasium in the South, ably assisted by his trainer, Raymond Cerfonteyn. Mhlongo comes in as the more experienced boxer, and is the holder of many titles in the past.
The promoters have put together bouts which include one women’s contest. Tshidi Mokebisi, who trains with Manny Fernandes at his gymnasium at Turffontein Racecourse, will take on Cindy Ncube in the bantamweight division over four rounds. Mokebisi hails from Bloemfontein, but has made her home in the South boxing’s camp to further her career.

The other boxers who will be in action include Hendriques LaNDO, Eric Mukadi, Layton Gloss, Sihle Jelwane , France Ramabodu and Kuvesa Katembo.
