Local youngsters to go head-to-head with Cape Town football institutions

Local youngsters belonging to JABEZ Football Club will be flying off to Cape Town to go head-to-head with other football clubs.

Local youngsters belonging to JABEZ Football Club will be flying off to Cape Town from March 16 to 23, where the football players will be given exposure and opportunity.

The Johannesburg South-based club was birthed in 2009 to give young players the platform to develop as individuals and football players.

Grassroots players aged from four to 12 and Junior Elite aged 13 to 19 are excited and preparing for training sessions and matches against some of Cape Town’s leading football institutions.

Lyle Bennett of JABEZ said this will be a life-changing moment for these young boys and girls and that they are in week five of the pre-season.

“The programme that has been put together for the players will not only challenge them but will ensure they enjoy the experience as well. Players will receive training from leading coaches and individual feedback on their strengths and areas that need more development,” he said.

This trip, according to Bennett, will ensure each player will return having gained valuable experience, being a better player and a better person.

“Our intent is not to go and win at all cost, but rather for our players to display what they have learned over the years as best as they can and learn as much as possible during the trip. We have been extremely blessed to have produced players who are doing very well at this moment, both locally and abroad,” said Bennett.

These players include Pano Dimas, Ethan Brooks of TS Galaxy FC and Bafana Bafana, Leah Bennett and Jashil Vithal, who are in the United States, as well as Bontle Molefe.

He said they are set to send more players to Europe and the USA later this year.

“We help players from other clubs achieve the same success as well because we want to make a positive impact within football South Africa. Danica Lotter from JVW, a talented and respectful young lady, is now pursuing a degree and playing football in the USA. It is important for clubs and football organisations to work together to achieve a common goal,” said Bennett.
