Catch two icons at The Lyric performing for good cause
Guests are encouraged to donate books on the day and will be directed to a collection point upon arrival.
JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse and Pops Mohamed will take to the stage at Gold Reef City’s The Lyric Theatre, in a performance that promises to be a fantastic evening of music and entertainment.
The two iconic South African musicians are performing on stage in an effort to raise funds for Readers R Leaders, a community based project that aims to promote a culture of reading amongst primary school children in disadvantaged areas.
Readers R Leaders will use the funds to teach learners how to read, to purchase books, to set up book clubs in community centres and to train and equip volunteers with the necessary tools to provide one-on-one reading assistance.
“Our role as artists should be seen beyond making music, our music is educational. As an avid reader, education is the best tool to empower our children,” explained Mabuse.
Guests are encouraged to donate books on the day and will be directed to a collection point upon arrival.
The concert will take place on Friday, July 24, at 8pm. Tickets cost R200 per person and are available at Computicket.
