The mighty mums of the Witkoppen Support Group

Mothers are expected to fill many roles, but what we forget is that ‘mum’ is only one person, and sometimes she needs help and support.

Cuddlers, Witkoppen Clinic, and the Fourways Review, under the banner of Caxton Cares, have joined together to give mums that help by creating support and learning sessions. The hope is to give the mums the skills they need to prepare for the different stages in childcare, as well as skills to uplift them as individuals within a community.

Murray Booth, the marketing executive at Cuddlers, is proud to be making a difference in the lives of the mums in the group.

“Since getting involved in this initiative in April, it’s been remarkable to see how the mums have grown. They are so much more confident and driven,” said Booth.

Dagmar Kahn, the business development Manager at Witkoppen Clinic, says that these sessions have been put in place for the mums to help each other, as well as learn skills at the same time.

“These support sessions provide an opportunity for the mums to share their personal experiences and feelings. Mums are also able to share their coping strategies with other mums who may be going through similar situations,” said Kahn. The sessions run bi-monthly on Thursdays.
