Competitors travel as far as Western Cape and Swaziland to participate in the SA Eventing championships

The event organiser said riders competed in the levels of the competition from the juniors to adult categories.

Inanda Country Base recently hosted the South African Adult Eventing Championships horse riding competition in Kyalami.

Competitors travelled from across the country and neighbouring countries to compete for the South African Championship title.

Event organiser Patrick Brown said, “We had more than 100 horse riders from different parts of the country and abroad competing in 75cm for adults, juniors and pony riders, 85cm for adults, juniors and pony riders, and 95cm for adults, juniors and pony riders. Competitors travelled from the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Swaziland.”

He said this year’s riding courses were designed and built by veteran horse rider Tim Payne. “This year was the 36th time that Payne has designed and built the course for the South African Championships. Assisting Tim was Liam Emmet and his hard-working team at Inanda Country Base.”

He said the recent rain ensured that the ground was perfect for competitors during the event.

Whitney Deverneuil riding Merlin’s Keep scooped first place in Adult Eventing 75 class one while Daniella Machine riding Voigtkirsch Odessa took first place in Adult Eventing 85 class four.
