City planning documents proclaim it as Cedar Road, while signage says Cedar Avenue.
The R552, starting at the Witkoppen Road T-junction, is a hub of activity.
The road features shopping malls, a hospital, small businesses, nurseries and one of the gateways to Dainfern. But it also is a confusing drive.
Signage tells that you that you are driving on Cedar Avenue, while a few meters on it states that you are on Cedar Road.
A quick Internet search shows that both names are used by companies and residential estates calling the road home, with Cedar Avenue being the favoured option.

Google Maps calls it Cedar Road, and Fourways Review was able to track down old city planning documents from the 1980s. In them, Cedar Road is indicated as the informal name for the R552.
Sam Modise, spokesperson for the Johannesburg Roads Agency, said the name pickle is a hard one to tackle, due to stretches of the road being provincial.
He added the agency didn’t have jurisdiction over it, even if they were to replace signs for uniformity.
