Douglasdale CPF ready to cook
DOUGLASDALE - Douglasdale Community Police Forum has rallied up support for its What's Cooking Potjiekos competition on 31 August at Broadacres Shopping Centre.

The competition already has 23 teams entered to cook up their best potjie recipes, and six Douglasdale police teams have entered the competition. Chefs of Montecasino’s Palazzo Hotel are taking up the challenge.
The forum’s chairperson Jean Berdou urged the community to join in the fun of the day to help raise funds for the forum.
He said a children’s programme and a police helicopter drone demonstration were just some of the exciting activities on offer during the day.
Music and entertainment, roaming microphones to get people’s opinions of the food and great prizes are just some of the activities.
Berdou said paramedics and the fire department as well as Douglasdale police would be on standby during the day.
He said Douglasdale police would package any leftover potjiekos and give it to residents in the informal settlements of the precinct.
“We are calling as many residents as possible to join us in handing out the food. This is an act of goodwill to bridge the gap between the different sectors in society and show that members of the community do care and are not insensitive to the plight of the less privileged. The police will be especially sensitive to mothers and children in the township in order to ensure that the families who need the food the most will receive it,” said Berdou.
Berdou thanked all the various sponsors of the event and said the challenge was still on for more community members to enter teams or to sponsor the day.
