Dog chained to basin is now in need of a home

FOURWAYS - Pet Empowerment in Townships are looking for a home for a grand old dog that they found chained to a washbasin.

The dog was affectionately named Blackie after being rescued from Orange Farm at the end of September. According to Laura Whittaker of the non-profit organisation, the animal was covered in ticks and fleas.

Upon taking Blackie to a veterinarian, they established he was about 10 years old.

Wittaker said the animal was surprisingly relaxed around other dogs, and a little nervous around humans in the beginning.

Due to the animal’s smaller size she said he’ll be well-suited to life in a complex.

Blackie has been vaccinated and will be sterilised before adoption.

“Obviously we’ll do a home check before he can be adopted,” said Whittaker.
