Top-ranked riders prepare for year ahead
KYALAMI - Johan Kachelhoffer proved that 2013 was his year after he was ranked as the top adult showjumping competitor of the year.
He was followed by Anne-Marie Esslinger of Burlington Stables in second place, while Lorette-Knowles Taylor and her husband Barry Taylor of Farnham Stables placed third and fourth respectively.
Capital Stud rider Nicole Horwood ranked fifth, Grant Langley sixth, Nicola Sime seventh, Shaun Neill eighth, Govett Triggol ninth and Samantha McIntosch tenth.
Kachelhoffer’s top ranking also added to Capital Stud’s achievements of 2013 as Kachelhoffer is a rider for the stud farm.
On the Capital Stud Facebook page, the stud’s Henning Pretorius reflected, “It has been a very exciting year for Capital Stud with a lot of good results.”
He said Kachelhoffer had a good year riding all the Capital horses and said it was a “pleasant and exciting experience working with him for the past year”.
Horwood, riding Capital’s Don Cumarco, won the South African Derby for the second year in a row and the South African Championships, as well as the Nissan Outdoor Grand Prix.
Henning said, “Our biggest challenge will be to repeat our success in 2013, and I would like to express my appreciation for all the hard work and dedication from the Capital Stud team in 2013.”
