Monte officer shot during attempted vehicle theft
MAGALIESSIG - A Montecasino security guard was injured during an attempted vehicle theft at the entertainment precinct.
According to a Montecasino representative, the security guard was accidentally shot in her leg during an unsuccessful attempted vehicle theft in the parking arcade at Montecasino.
The shots were fired by an off-duty police reservist who attempted to apprehend the suspects. However, the suspects managed to flee the scene.
Montecasino confirmed that the security officer was not seriously hurt and that there were no other parties injured during the attempted vehicle theft.
Montecasino further explained that while it may seem that the entertainment precinct is targeted by criminals, acts of crime are random and are experienced at any public destination.
A Montecasino representative said, “Montecasino has significant resources in terms of security personnel and tactical response personnel, both on-foot and in patrol vehicles, as well as CCTV coverage with a central room manned 24 hours a day by highly skilled and trained staff.”
