Lots of laughter at luncheon

PINESLOPES- Hirsch's Fourways hosted a very special luncheon for the women of The Potter's House on Valentine's Day.

The Potter’s House is a safe house for women who were the victims of abuse.

Hirsch’s treated the women to refreshing welcome drinks, cooking demonstrations and a delicious lunch by Miele, as well as an informative and entertaining talk by John-Peter Gernaat.

Gernaat is a ‘laughterologist’ who teaches that laughter is nature’s way of actively de-stressing. The talk was of particular significance to the women of Potter’s House, many of whom have recently escaped stressful situations. Gernaat explained to the women that it is very important to let go of stress so that it doesn’t build up. He also conducted a laughter workshop with the women which allowed them to express their emotions.

Gernaat explained that laughter builds trust, improves communication and inspires creativity.
