The suspects were taken into custody for murder, attempted robbery and possession of an unlawful firearm and ammunition
respectively. The first suspect was on the run after a fatal shooting of a 39-year-old man from Diepsloot in October last year. It is reported that
during that murder incident at least three armed men had entered a residence in Diepsloot Extension 5. The alleged perpetrators demanded cash and one of them fired a shot into the man’s upper body. He died on arrival at a local hospital.
The police are investigating the possibility that the handgun found in possession of the second suspect could have been used during
that incident. “Linking these suspects to other cases of robbery is also likely at this stage,” Diepsloot Police Station’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela said. They will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
