Ark Angel runs Comrades
CHARTWELL - Ark Animal Centre supporter, Gloria Pucciatti took it upon herself to run the Comrades Marathon to raise money for the shelter.
Ark Animal Centre, based in Chartwell, is South Africa’s leading shelter specialising in homing and care of pregnant dogs and puppies.
Pucciatti single-handedly raised more than R20 000 for the centre from her Pennies for Puppies Comrades Campaign.
According to Candice Eilertsen of the shelter, Pucciatti had previously adopted a puppy from the centre so when she decided to run the Comrades Marathon for a good cause, Ark was the obvious choice. Pucciatti was hoping to raise at least R10 000 from her campaign, but in just a few months she managed to raise R21 351.40 from the Back-A-Buddy website – a platform for charities and charitable causes. She also raised R1 800 in cash for the shelter.
“This has been one of the most enjoyable and inspiring campaigns we have helped with,” Eilertsen said. “Gloria was always so positive and happy and we are so appreciative and thankful to her for her hard work and dedication to our cause. We want her to know that she is a true Ark angel.”
