Cycle Kyalami takes a winter break

KYALAMI - With the onset of winter and the early setting of the sun in the evenings, Cycle Kyalami has decided to put its night rides on hold.

Darryl van Niekerk of Cycle Kyalami thanked the community for their continued and extended support of the rides.

He said, “Thank you to all of you who have made each of the rides a success so far.”

The rides started in April last year as a way to explore the Greater Kyalami Conservancy on two wheels at night.

The cyclists had hoped it would be an opportunity to see what nightlife the conservancy had to offer but the sound of pedaling often disturbed the animals, and as a result they had not seen much. However, it is a chance to breathe in the fresh air.

Midrand police and the Community Policing Forum joined the cyclists and patrolled the area on the odd occasion, too.

Community members from all areas are welcomed to the rides.

Van Niekerk would keep the community posted when the cycling resumes.
