Broadacres Drive Association rewards pointsmen

DAINFERN - Nine William Nicol Drive pointsmen have been recognised for their sterling work directing traffic.

Any motorist who has had occasion to drive down William Nicol is painfully aware that extensive roadworks are taking place in the Dainfern area of this busy thoroughfare. But the lives of motorists and construction workers alike have been eased considerably by the work of nine Diepsloot men employed by Stefanutti Stocks to direct traffic at the William Nicol/Broadacres intersection. Their contribution has not gone unnoticed.

In a ceremony held at the intersection on 15 July, each of the pointsmen was awarded a certificate and a cash gratuity. This recognition was arranged on behalf of local residents by the Broadacres Drive Association, a voluntary association of residential estates and other organisations that access Broadacres Drive.

The ceremony took place in two sessions to ensure that the busy intersection remained manned at all times. One pointsman made a short speech on behalf of all nine pointsmen, who were pleased to have their difficult and dangerous work recognised.
