Pageant finalist calls for donations
LONEHILL - Miss Commonwealth SA finalist Chloe Roberts calls for the public to make a small contribution to her charity drive – and a big difference to the poor and vulnerable.
Chloe Roberts will hold her second Rands or Cans collection day at Lonehill shopping centre from 9am to 11.30am on 2 August. Rands or Cans is Roberts’ own charitable initiative, launched in the course of her duties as a Miss Commonwealth SA finalist.
The Commonwealth Pageant adds charitable action to displays of poise and beauty, and finalists like Roberts are required to act as charitable and cultural ambassadors who embody the Commonwealth principles of racial harmony, poverty eradication and cultural cohesion.
The principle of Roberts’s campaign is to encourage everybody to make an affordable donation. The first Rands or Cans drive drew a significant collection of non-perishable foods, clothes and monetary donations, and Roberts is hoping that her second drive will see even greater success.
Proceeds of the collections go to the Soweto-based Ikageng Aids Ministry, to support the organisation’s educational and family support initiatives in the community.
