Master Chefs in the making

FOURWAYS - Education Incorporated pupils were given a taste of the culinary life at Aroma Café.

Chef Garry Hughes of Aroma Café kindly – or perhaps bravely – allowed pupils of grades 1 to 5 into his realm, where the inner workings of a restaurant kitchen were revealed.

The pupils then had their own opportunity to learn the skills of a true Master Chef. They made cupcakes, whisking up batter from scratch and baked the cakes in the oven, before decorating the finished product with pink and blue icing and plenty of sweets.

The energetic pupils made a savoury accompaniment to the cakes. They mixed, kneaded and rolled out pizza dough, piled their bases with topping and baked them – all with professional flair.

With the hard work done came the best part of a chef’s day – the feast.
