A good laugh for youth development

FOURWAYS - The Bear Foundation is encouraging the community to laugh for a good cause at their comedy evening at Indaba Hotel in Fourways on 5 September.

Nomzamo Gwencsa, founder of the Bear Foundation, explained that the non-profit organisation aims to make positive changes in the lives of underprivileged young women by teaching leadership and public speaking as well as engaging the girls in community service.

The foundation is currently working with school pupils in Diepsloot and Cosmo City. Gwencsa said the comedy evening would serve to raise funds for the various skills and youth development programmes the foundation is running, including their Toastmasters programme, whereby female school pupils in Diepsloot and Cosmo City are put through an intensive Toastmasters course to improve their self-confidence, strengthen their vocabularies, and foster their public-speaking ability.

The comedy evening will start at 6.30pm for 7pm. Tickets for the comedy evening cost R120 per person, which includes a goodie bag. There will also be head and shoulder massages on offer from Mowana Spa, refreshments and drinks on sale, and prizes from the Body Shop will be raffled off.

The comedians for the evening will be Tony de King, Tshepo Mogale and the King of Christian comedy, Napsta, who will also be selling his newly-released Christian comedy CDs.
